Meet Amy Dykstra
Registered Psychologist and Owner
Hello and welcome!
I am a psychologist that offers support to children, teens, and adults in Calgary and online throughout Alberta. I provide a supportive space for children and teens to talk and learn new ways to cope. I also conduct a variety of assessments to help provide you with a greater understanding of how you or your child learns while giving you strategies to enhance school success.
I earned my Masters of Education in School and Child Psychology from the University of Calgary and am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I have also completed additional education at the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute where I obtained a certificate in play therapy and hold a Post-Master's Certificate in Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice from New York University.
Prior to entering private practice I worked for several years as a psychologist at the Calgary Board of Education. I have also worked with families receiving assistance through Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and supported adults through the Never Too Late Program at Catholic Family Services.
I have experience in assessment and counselling for ADHD, learning disorders, intellectual disorders, giftedness, behavioural difficulties, trauma, and emotional concerns. I have a special interest in ADHD in women and am passionate about helping women gain more insight into their symptoms.
I look forward to meeting you!
