Child Counselling
Individual therapy for children and teens with support offered both in person and online
Childhood and adolescence is a time of incredible growth. For many, it is also a time of intense and overwhelming emotion. While everyone experiences emotions such as sadness, stress, anger, and anxiety, sometimes these feelings cause difficulty in our lives. I offer a supportive space for children and teens, ages 6 to 18, to learn new and healthier coping skills.
I primarily use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in sessions. Together, we will explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to come up with new ways of interacting and seeing the world around us. We will talk through these difficulties and may also do some expressive art, engage in play therapy, and practice mindfulness.
Sessions are offered in person and virtually. When participating in virtual counselling, please ensure that your child or teen has a quiet and private space where where sessions can be done comfortably and confidentially. Sometimes, children struggle with staying engaged during an online counselling session. To help with this, I am currently offering half sessions in addition to the standard 50-minute session.

If you are ready to move forward, please book an initial session, for parents only. This parent meeting will give us an opportunity to chat about how your child is currently doing and discuss your areas of concern.
The number of sessions required depends on the individual. Some children and teens require only brief or short-term therapy while others benefit from speaking to someone on an ongoing basis. Other factors that can influence the therapeutic process include the complexity of concerns, willingness and desire to engage in therapy, and how often new skills are practiced outside of sessions.
